In my day job I constantly am trying to put together the proper series of plots to help people understand and identify the relevant trends in their data.

Unfortunately this minimizes the investigative and exploratory capabilities of the researchers/team leaders. I really believe that using reactive frameworks like R’s “Shiny” paired with interactive visualization libraries like “plotly”, driven by “d3” can help restore some of that.

With a good user interface on the front end, the research data can speak for itself. Easily accessible data makes sharing and showing data decisions so simple. The hard part is finding a balance between when to build out a Shiny app and when to make a quick pdf summary….

My Apps

I have built several Shiny apps for fun and all my code is available on Github. Let me know if you find any bugs :)
